March 11, 2016

I started this blog last year and  So I am back here basically talking to myself for now; lol, but I hope that that will change once I introduce it on Facebook.   Let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am the oldest of 7 children born to Gerald and Barbara (my late Mom, gone too soon in 1988 at the age of 56) ...   I have 2 wonderful, intelligent, beautiful female human beings that call me Mom (and that's about all I will say about them so I don't upset them - at least for now!)  Although how does a Mother express her feelings day to day and not comment on her blessed gifts - well I will try to keep mention of them to a minimum.  But I digress. My life took a major 180 degree turn back in 1972 when I started experiencing pain, tingling in my extremities and other symptoms.   I  have something called Fibromyalgia (Fibro) which has impacted me in a big way.  Now a days, some people may know about it, or at least know someone with it; however, I started with the symptoms back in my early 20's.  Doctors, terribly naive about the condition back then said, "well, I would say you have Rheumatoid Arthritis but your blood work came back negative so I don't really know what it is."  Not exactly great news for a young woman in the prime of her life.  It became chronic and unrelenting in the early 80's and so I went to a doctor who told me I had Multiple Sclerosis (MS)  I researched MS and tho I had numbness and tingling, pain was my primary symptom and so I finally convinced a new neurologist to order an MRI and indeed, I did not have Multiple Sclerosis.  However, on my return to the new neurologist that ordered the MRI, I told my frustration of not knowing what was going on with my body and his only comment to me at that time was,"no one can be in that amount of pain, go see a psychiatrist".  I mentioned my physical issues to my cousin, Patty, and at some point she was at lunch with someone who said they knew someone with the same complaint and that is was thought to be something called Fibromyalgia!  Being the kind, loving person that she is, Patty promptly went to the bookstore and purchased a few books about Fibro and mailed them to me.  And so began the trajectory of my new life.

Well it is now 5:30 PM EST so I will ttyl.  God bless.  I am grateful as always for my 2 daughters, the Spring is coming and the ability to have created a blog :)
